2 x Youth Workers posts (part time)

We have a brilliant opportunity for you to join our fantastic Youth Work team!

About Us

We celebrated our 170th anniversary in 2019 making us one of the oldest youth work organisations in Newcastle. Today our Youth Work team supports children and young people aged 10-25 and the wider community. We operate from Walker Park in the community centre in the heart of Walker, predominantly in the Walker and Byker areas of Newcastle. We provide social, emotional and practical support through our day-to-day work and deliver a variety of activities, trips and residentials for young people to broaden their horizons and motivate them to reach their goals and aspirations. While the people we work with can be challenging, job satisfaction is incredibly rewarding. We encourage and listen to young people to help shape our services and have a voice.

We work closely with our community team who deliver our toddler group, young at heart club and individualised support for adults in Newcastle.

Our Team

You will be working with the youth work team and our Youth Team Lead Mary. All our staff are passionate about helping and empowering children and young people to achieve their full potential and we give unconditional support.

It is an exciting time to join our team as we begin to deliver new programmes coming out COVID-19 Restrictions. We deliver regular multi-sport sessions, cycling opportunities, arts, film, animation, trips and activities such as go karting, escape rooms, surfing and much more to broaden the horizons of young people. We go out into the Walker and Byker communities and reach out to young people and the community to engage with them on the streets as well as at our centre in Walker Park.

Working Hours

Our work must be accessible to the young people it serves, and we often work after school and evening hours with a regular late shift being 4-8pm with the occasional weekend for a trip or residential!
