Part Time Detached Youth Worker – 9 hours per week, 1 year Fixed contract

Purpose: To work with young people in Walker/Byker areas of Newcastle

Hours: 9 hrs per week, (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings)

Salary: £8.78 – £9.39 per hour depending on experience

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated person that is passionate about working with young people to join our team as a part time detached Youth Worker. The candidate should be flexible to the needs of the project. You will work within a small team of youth workers based in Walker delivering detached youth work with the aim of engaging with young people where they hang out, developing relationships and identifying their needs and interests and offering support. Some of the time will be to help run group work sessions with small groups of young people at the project base.

Specific duties are outlined in the Job Description available below.

Candidate Requirements

  • Youth Work Qualification (Level 2 Minimum)
  • At least 1 years experience of working with directly with children/young people
  • Able to work evenings during the week and be flexible
  • Skills to communicate and engage effectively with young people
  • An understanding of the issues young people may face in today’s society
