Thanks to funding awarded from The National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund, Walker Park Centre will begin a 3-year programme of activities and events with the aim of bringing the community together and tackling loneliness.

The centre will work with 8 local care homes to coordinate a programme of events and activities for older people with free, return mini-bus transport. We’re looking forward to providing bingo, tea dances, pie and peas suppers and quizzes among a range of other activities and events aimed at bringing older people together. Young people at YMCA Walker youth project will contribute to the project by putting on their own, inter-generational events for young people and older adults.

We’ll also continue to provide our free, weekly parent and toddler groups at the Centre, offering free soft play, healthy snacks and support around housing, benefits and employment.
